Opto System Laser Diode Bar Stacker VJSB3000

Highlights of the Laser Diode Bar Stacker VJSB3000

Perfect Arrangement With High Placement Accuracy.

Create a staple of laser bars to access the facets by picking up the bars from tape into the stack. Tight placement allowance helps to deliver consistent masking of the coating for all bars alike.

Automatic Jig Clamping.

Take advantage of our experience and leave no chance to failure.

Get More Bars Into The Jig.

Going from 150µm resonator cavity all the way to 6mm and 30mm lateral size. Up to 100 bars are possible in a single jig through the dedicated 20° jig tilting geometry. (See options below).

A Number One Tool For Stacking Diode Bars

Description of the Laser Diode Bar Stacker VJSB3000

The full automatic bar stacker VJSB3000 is a big relief in production because this is a difficult task when done manually. To develop human skills for this requires a lot of time and training. The bar stacker VJSB3000 is a reliable and accurate tool that does all the difficult jobs for you full automatically. This specific tool has a special geometry that is optimized for the stacking task. The special stacking angle considerably increases the placement accuracy and the amount of bars that can be placed on a stack. High placement accuracy means that the overcoating length of the upper and bottom side of the bar is a well defined parameter. The tool picks up the laser bars from a tape and fills them up into the holding jig. This stacker is also able to clamp the stack and close-off the jig automatically, so that very few steps need to be manually before removing the completed jig. Multiple jig stations enable parallel processing and quick turnover. The jig is easy to handle and is designed to allow plasma treatment and coating on both facets.

FAQ

Why not better an integrated Stacker/Unstacker tool instead?

Although the stacker & unstacker combination tool VDSB3000 is very useful because it combines both functions, there are still advantages of a dedicated stacker tool such as the VJSB3000. The stacks are built with a different geometry which enables stacking the bars with improved accuracy. This allows for larger stacks, a better control of the  overcoating and an automatic jig clamping. For resonator cavities below 150µm we actually do highly recommend to use a dedicated stacker, because the advantage of the different tool tilt angle becomes not just beneficial but mandatory. If you have a lot of production volume, separating the functions in different tools increases the overall capacity and reliability of the individual tools.  The clamping of the jig in a dedicated stacker is automatized which is an additional plus. Last but not least, it becomes possible to stack more bars on a single jig with the stacker tool VJSB3000, therefore increasing production capacity. If you have been stacking and unstacking bars manually until now, you might want to start with a pure stacker to increase your capacity since you can use your already existing manual workplaces for unstacking only, which is a less risky task. Otherwise for most customers we do recommend a combination tool.

I want to pack as many bars as possible in one jig: How many bars can be stacked?

To confirm an exact number tests should be done first. It also depends on the cavity length, the thickness of the bars and the spacers, the used substrate material and on other parameters such as your flexibility to adapt the jig to our recommendations. Our estimate is that for a standard configuration around 100 diode bars can be stacked on a single jig. Our engineers will be happy as well to discuss your specific needs and share their decade long expertise with you. A deep hands-on training at your location is part of our delivery. Prior to that it is best if you contact us and send some samples. You are most welcome to consult us!

Do you provide the jigs too?

Yes, the jig is a critical part of the VJSB3000 and we will be happy to offer several designs that will adapt to your individual needs. If you have a design already that is implemented into your factory, we will be glad to discuss how it can be adjusted to fit in your existing tools and the VJSB3000.

Do you process my wafers?

Right now we do not have the capability to act as an OEM manufacturer but we are looking for partners to be able to do so in the future. If you want to try out how our tools work on your devices, please get in touch and send us some samples. We are eager to show off and learn about new applications. If you own Opto System tools and would like to offer OEM services, please get in touch too.
